Your SF Climate Week Guide + How To Electrify Your Home
The SFCW events that'll help you imagine a more regenerative, culturally vibrant future
đ QuitCarbon Guides Homeowners in a âNo Compromisesâ Home Electrification Process
This week is Heat Pump Week in California â a statewide push to raise awareness and adoption of heat pumps as part of the clean energy transition. But at QuitCarbon, the San Francisco company demystifying home electrification to make going fossil-fuel-free at home more accessible and affordable, every week is Heat Pump Week.
We burn a lot of fossil fuels in our homes. But it doesnât have to be that way. Switching to electric appliances in your home, such as heat pumps and induction stoves, is often cheaper and more efficient than their carbon-emitting counterparts. âThere really isnât a tradeoff,â said Cooper Marcus, QuitCarbon CEO and âChief Quiter.â
Functioning as a guide throughout the home electrification process, QuitCarbon bridges the gap between homeowners and the web of incentives, subsidies, nonprofits and contractors who will get the job done at the lowest possible cost. Whatâs more? QuitCarbonâs services are free.
âThe last thing you need when youâre starting to think about making a big change like getting off of gas in your home is a big bill just so you can think about it,â Cooper said. Thatâs exactly the situation he found himself in during his own home remodel, which sparked the idea for QuitCarbon.
QuitCarbon started in San Francisco and has steadily expanded. Now, theyâre helping homeowners, mostly in single-family, owner-occupied units, across California get off fossil fuels. Later this year, theyâll offer their services nationwide, Cooper said.
Their small, passionate team has already helped thousands of families make the switch.
âSooner or later, everyoneâs going to have to deal with their appliances and their energy bills,â Cooper said. âPlanning and becoming educated about your familyâs clean energy journey is something you might as well start today.â
